I need a simple dessert recipe.?

I have a guy who I really like coming over on Sunday and I want to make a really good dessert, but I'm lacking in the dessert making area. I don't really want to make something out of a box.

But please, nothing with peanuts in it, because we're both allergic.I need a simple dessert recipe.?
There is a part of me that believes my husband married me because of this pound cake recipe... maybe it'll bring you the same luck...

3 eggs

1 1/2 c. sugar

1/2 c. butter

1/4 t. butter extract

1/4 t. lemon extract

1/2 t. orange extract

1/2 t. vanilla extract

1/2 t. almond extract

1/2 c. sour cream

1/8 t. baking soda

1 1/2 c. flour

Beat all ingredients together, adding flour last, and a little at a time. Bake in a loaf pan at 325F for an hour. It may need a little more time, but watch it like a hawk. When tested with a knife, a bit gummy on the inside is OK. Make sure it cools COMPLETELY before removing it from the pan (I've wrecked this a few times due to impatience). Some berries, ice cream, or whipped cream on top adds a special flair to it. Here's a home-made recipe for whipped cream that's pretty darn yummy...

1/2 pint heavy whipping cream

1/2 c. powdered sugar

1 T. extract of your choice (most people use vanilla, but any flavor that you'd like to bring out will work well -- I like almond)

Beat the heck out of the whipped cream until it forms stiff peaks, then beat in sugar and extract. Don't make it too far in advance, it seems to ';flop'; if it's in the fridge a long time (beating an egg white into it helps to keep that from happening, but a lot of folks don't like the idea of raw egg).

Best of luck with your date!I need a simple dessert recipe.?
Sorry I didn't get around to choosing the best answer, but I did give you the vote. He loved it, I loved it, and we're together now! Thank you so much! Report Abuse

APPLE CRISP

1 can apple pie filling

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup butter

Ice cream (optional)

Heat oven to 375 F.

Grease 10x6 baking dish.

Pour can of apple pie filling in dish.

Mix sugar with next 4 ingredients until crumbly;

Spread over pie filling.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until tender.

Serve warm
This is super-simple, delicious, and doesn't involve any heavy-duty kitchen equipment:

15-Minute Fruit Gratin

--For 4 servings: 1 to 1 1/2 pounds perfectly ripe fruit (this time of year, I'd go for pitted sliced plums, but you could use peaches, fresh berries, figs, even pears or apples, or a combination, depending on what looks good at your market)

--1 cup heavy (whipping) cream

--3 tablespoons sugar

--1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat the broiler, setting the rack REALLY close to the heat source (even 2'; away is not too close!) Wash, pit and stem the fruit as necessary. If you're using apples or pears, you might add a little cinnamon and nutmeg (or use a bit of pumpkin pie slice instead). You want at least 2 cups of fruit to serve 4.

Place the fruit in a baking dish just large enough to hold it.

Whip the cream with 2 tablespoons of the sugar until it is thick and just barely holds soft peaks. Pour it over and around the fruit. Sprinkle with the remaining tablespoon of dugar.

Broil carefully (do watch it--it can burn easily!) until the cream has browned all over and has even turned black in a couple of spots; if needed, rotate the baking dish so that it broils evenly.

You can use any type of fruit your heart desires, even frozen/thawed, for this. The topping comes out a little bit like a broiled custard. Anyway it's luscious, and very sophisticated for something so easy. Hope you like it.

filling

make sure the cream cheese is softened, but still a little stiff- like leave it out for about an hour or less just till you can push it in a little. mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar with a mixer till it is blended add the vanilla , when the mixture is blended together { it should be rather thick} fold in the whip cream till it is folded through. spoon into pie shell, top with a doppup of whip cream and a strawberry, or peach slice or chocolate curl----i usually just lightly sprinkle the top with some graham cracker crumbs, put he lid of from the pie crust on upside down to cover the cheese cake and refrigerate till yo are ready for it.

The best simple dessert recipe. I'm not actually going to give you the recipe. If you ever watched the Food Network there is a show called Semi-homemade with Sandra Lee. She has simple dessert ideas that are delicious. I would go to the website food.com and click on her show(under tv shows) and then pick a recipe that you like. You will now have a variety to pick from. Good luck!!
