Can I replace Mascarpone Cheese with regular Cream Cheese in a dessert recipe?

Here is a recipe for substitute mascarpone:

* 16 ounces cream cheese

* 1/3 cup sour cream

* 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

Blend all three ingredients together until smooth.Can I replace Mascarpone Cheese with regular Cream Cheese in a dessert recipe?
It depends on what you are making. Cream cheese has a very distinctive flavour and you can usually detect it in a recipe. Mascarpone has a cool taste and very smooth texture. A friend of mine made a tirimisu with ricotta cheese very successfully, it was the best I had ever tasted, and it was the first time she had cooked it.

Good luck. . . you might invent something :))Can I replace Mascarpone Cheese with regular Cream Cheese in a dessert recipe?
Yes- but what you get will be a little different, but no one should get upset about it-

C Cheese is stiffer and more solid than Masc. so have your CC at room temp, whip it with a hand mixer, and at the end add a few Tbsp of H Cream or Half n' Half and maybe a drop or two of vanilla.

Some say you can do this same thing with Ricotta- It works, but it's not quite the same. Masc. is really expensive ,I remember $7 for a small tub.

Ricotta is cheaper, better protein, and fewer calories.

Maybe try ricotta and CC together. It won't be bad. Promise.
I find them to be interchangeable. Cream cheese is a little cheaper but not much cheaper. Marscarpone is smoother and creamer it seems tome.
Yes. I live where you can't find Mascarpone Cheese, so I have substituted it with regular cream cheese in tons of recipes!
It depends on what you are making. Mascarpone is smoother and creamier than cream cheese.
